GOALKEEPER LEWIS SIGNS UP

After an excellent display on Saturday against former club Aberystwyth Town, Barry Town United supporters will be delighted to learn that the club has signed goalkeeper Mike Lewis to a contract.

Barry’s 2016-17 Supporters' Player of the Year, Barry's influential #1 was instrumental in the club's promotion campaign, keeping 21 clean sheets along the way to cap his successful debut season at Jenner Park.

Formerly of Swansea City and Carmarthen Town, Lewis has more than 200 JD Welsh Premier League nods to his name and has been part of a Welsh Cup final and UEFA Europa League qualifying tie with Aberystwyth.

Racking up JD Welsh Premier League clean sheets against Bangor City, Newtown, Llandudno, The New Saints and others in 2017-18, Mike recovered from recent injury to return to the starting line-up at the weekend.

“I’m delighted to have signed a long-term contract with the club”, Lewis told the Barry Town club website.

“The club has made strides in our first season back in the JD Welsh Premier League and I believe this is just the start. It’s a fantastic club with an incredible fan base and I am proud to be part of the journey”.

“I am thankful to everyone at the club who has made this possible”.

“I’m delighted to have secured Mike for the longer term", revealed manager Gavin Chesterfield .

"Since he’s come to the club, he has brought assured performances and his qualities as a keeper bring much to our team. Mike appears to have found a good home at the club and long may this continue”.
