SPANIARD JOAQUIN BEATS THE DEADLINE

Barry Town United are excited to have completed the signing of Spanish midfielder Joaquin Estirado Rivera.

As well as playing for his hometown club Badajoz in Segunda División B (Spanish football’s third tier), Joaquin has also worn the colours of Tercera División sides Don Benito, Santa Amalia and Atlético Pueblonuevo.

The first Spaniard to arrive at Jenner Park since Isadora Lafita and Jose Arriola in the 1960s, Joaquin (also known as Quini) linked up with the Barry Town United first team squad for the first time on Tuesday night.

Discussing his final signing before the transfer window closes this evening, Barry manager Gavin Chesterfield commented to the website: “Joaquin is a technically-gifted player, who will add creativity and composure".

“At 28, he brings good experience, having played at Segunda and Tercera levels in his native Spain".

"It will take a little time for him to get match fit, but I’m sure he will adapt to JDWPL football quite quickly”.

On behalf of all at Barry Town United, we would like to extend our thanks to Cardiff Bay Football Club for their assistance with this transfer, while wishing the Tigers continued success for the remainder of their season.
