HOOD SIGNS UP FOR BARRY TOWN

With a matter of hours until the transfer window closes for the season, Barry Town United are pleased to announce the arrival of Jonathan Hood from Port Talbot Town.

The 26-year old midfielder has made more than 50 appearances in the JD Welsh Premier League, appearing for three different clubs and scoring against the likes of Bangor City, Connah’s Quay Nomads, Llandudno, Prestatyn Town and The New Saints.

In 2013, Hood was a part of the Carmarthen Town team that beat The New Saints on penalties to win what is now the Nathaniel MG Cup, playing alongside former Barry favourite Christian Doidge.

Last season, Hood scored 17 times in 18 matches, including a hat-trick in the Port Talbot derby, before moving to Iceland, where he played for Ægir FC in league and national cup competition.

“I’m delighted to have signed for Barry Town United” said Hood, who will wear the #32 jersey.

“I’m looking forward to meeting the lads and helping the squad achieve our goals”.

“It’s great to be back in the JD Welsh Premier League”.

“I’d like to thank all at Port Talbot Town for their support, it’s been a pleasure playing for you.

“I’ve left a great club with incredible fans and feel like I’m joining another great club with wonderful supporters too.

"I can’t wait to get going and think I’ll feel at home straight away.”

Speaking about the signing, manager Gavin Chesterfield had the following comments:

“Firstly, thank you to Cortez Belle and PTT for the way in which they handled this transfer".

“Jonathan is an exciting player who I think will add something different to our team".

“He’s an experienced JDWPL player who will add further quality and character to our dressing room and I’m looking forward to working with him”.
